When should you refer a corneal abrasion?
Not healed in 24 hrs
Abrasion related to Contact lense wear
White Corneal Infiltrate
Who Should not be given a patch for Corneal abrasion?
Contact lense wearer
Dendritic or stellate Epith defects
Poor historians
How should a corneal foreign body be managed?
Remove the Foreign body AND the rust ring. If not it will not heal.
What are the complications of Hyphema?
Rebleeding into the anterior chamber
Glaucoma
What is the management of a Hyphema?
Assume globe ruptured
Shield and refer
What shoud be done if globe is ruptured or laceration suspected?
Stop exam
Shield eye
Tetanus Prophylaxis
Refer immediately

Emergent Lateral Canthotomy consult

What are the features of Orbital Fracture?
Blow out vs Direct(accordion) Periorbital edema, ecchymosis Surgical indications -persistent diplopia -poor cosmesis
What is the tx of Superficial lid lacerations?
Avoid lid margin retraction
Remove superficial foreign bodies
Rule out deep FB
Give tetanus prophylaxis
