Q

How is the xylem adapted for their function

A

They are made up of dead cells
Contains no organelles, no cells wall made up of a continuous hollow tube allowing easiness and fastest possible flow of water
Contains lignin which prevent xylem from collapsing inwards
Contains outs allowing water to enter into the xylem
Transport and water and minerals from he root hair cells to the stem up to the leaf

Q

How is the phloem adapted for thei function

A

Contains sieve tube allowing flow and transport of sapphire
No nucleus to maximise space for sap
Contains living cells
Contains little cytoplasm
Companion cells which Contains mitochondria which produces ATP for the transport of water up the xylem vellsels via translocation

Q

Apopalst pathway

A

Water diffuses into the cell wall of the epidermis and moves through the cell wall of the epidermis, cortex, endothermic whre it reaches the campaign strip it then joins the sympathy pathway

Q

Symplast pathway

A

Water moves through the partially permeable membrane of epidermis by osmosis then travels through the cytoplasm of epidermis then the cortex and then the encoders where the water from the apoplast pathway joins the symplast pathway then it reaches the pericycle where it moves into the xylem by diffusion through their pits

Q

Cohesion tension theory

A

Based on the idea that water molecules stick together by cohesive forces, so that when a water molecules evaporates it puts tension on the column thus pulling another water molecule up to replace it

Q

Temperature rate of trnapsiration

A

As temperature increases the rate of movement of the molecules increases which increase the rate of diffusion of water vapour out the leaf increasing rate of transpiration

Q

Air movment

A

Increase she rate of transpiration as it reduces the size of the shell around the stomata

Q

Air humdity

A

Hugh air humidity decrease the rate of trnapsiration as it decreases the concentration gradient to the inside of the leaf and the air
