Transformation
Process in which genes are transferred into
a cell as free molecules of DNA
(process of putting a vector back into a cell)
Competent
Cell that is capable of taking up DNA from the surrounding medium
What must happen so a cell can become competent
The cell wall must be temporarily opened

Shock it with a cold temperature
