training methods Flashcards
what are all the training methods?
continuous training
FARTLEK training
interval training
circuit training
what are the advantages and disadvantages of continuous training
advantages- no equipment needed, easy to organise, training can be sport specific, good for building aerobic.
disadvantages- can be boring, can cause injury, i can be high intensity
what are the advantages and disadvantages for FARTLEK training
advantages- can be specific to a sport, it can be easy to carry out, adds variation
disadvantages- needs monitored by someone so you work your best, you need self discipline so you can achieve your peak training
Disadvantage-need good self discipline
what are the advantages and disadvantages for interval training
advantages- easy to measure progress and improvement, you can mix aerobic and anaerobic
disadvantages- high intensity so if you not fir than it would be harder for you
how can intensity be measured during exercise
heart rate
what is heart rate measured in
beats per minute
how do you calculate HR max
220 - your age
how do you calculate an individual aerobic training zone
60-80% of max heat rate
what benefits do athletes get from training in their aerobic training zone
aerobic endurance
explain how the Borg scale works
the scale that the athletes use to measure hoe hard they are working
what is the Borg scale also known as
RPE scale
disadvantages of using the Borg scale
need to be professionally experienced to do it
how can you calculate HR by using the Borg/RPE scale
borg scale x10 = bpm
What types of training would have high intensity and what would have low intensity?
High-Interval training, cardiovascular exercise, anaerobic exercises
Low-
