CRM training
New flight crew have to complete an initial operators CRM course within a year
Initial human factors training also req
Carried out by a CRM trainer by the authority
Pilots issued with a rating based on a zero hours course
Must commence supervised line training within 21 days of doing a skills test
Conversion course content
Elements of CRM combined with sim sessions based on decision making
LPC
License proficiency check
Proves you are competent you can fly the a/c to a high standard
Valid for 12 months plus the rest of the month
OPC
Operator proficiency check
Shows you can fly to the companies standards
Carried out every 6 months with additional items on each second one for the LPC
Must demonstrate competence in normal, abnormal and emerg situations
Validity of the OPC
6 calendar months in addition to the remainder of the month of issue
however
If issued within the final 3 months of validity of the previous OPC - license extends from 6 months from the end of the pervious OPC
E.g extends by an extra 9 months
Line check
Assesses you can fly the a/c to a satisfactory standard - carried out on the a/c from post flight to pre flight
Also assessed on CRM concepts however can’t fail on this
Valid for 12 months
Annual ground and refresher training is on
A/c systems - 1/3rd must be covered each year
Ops req and procedures
Review of accidents and incidents
Annual sim training (STD)
Annual SEP equip training
Tri-annual SEP (doors, firefighting) training
CRM
All wx ops training
Before each winter period as part of the LPC and ground refresher
Dangerous goods training
Every 24 months
Amount of t/o and l/d req
Must have carried out 3 t/o and 3 l/d within the previous 90 days as pilot flying or in sim
May be extended to 120 days if under supervision of type rating examiner
After 120 days - must re-qualify for the a/c - have to do the LPC again
Differences training
Familiarisation training - req when 2 similar variants are used - purely knowledge based
Differences training - req when there are significant differences between variants - involve time in the sim
Min flight crew
IFR and night = at least 2 pilots
All turbo prop a/c with more than 9 seats and turbojets = 2 pilots
When can the commander/ co pilot be relieved of his duties during flight
When there is a heavy crew member and flying above FL200
Commander req
Must have command OPC
Line training - 10 sectors if already type rated
