Q

What factors may determine turnout at elections?

A

. Type of election - voters are more inclined to turn out to vote when they value the institutions to which individuals are seeking to be elected
. Political apathy or disengagement - The power report suggests that increasing numbers are coming to the conclusion that elections make little difference due to the fact the the UKs main parties are starting to converge ideologically.
. The electoral system in operation - Some voters will be less inclined to cast a ballot where they think there vote won’t count/ will be wasted as with FPTP
