You cant touch the Torah so…
A
You use the yad. Its Hebrew for pointer. It is used by Jews to read the Torah so they don’t touch it.

What is the velvet mantle?
A
It is a special cover to protect the Torah from damage. It goes over everything.

What is the silver breast plate?
A
It reminds Jews of the shields that the priest from the old testament wore. Its used to protect the Torah. During world war 2 synagogues usually had shootings so it would protect the Torah.

What is the crown?
A
It reminds Jews that god is king. When you role up the 2 Torah scrolls you put the crown over the 2 poles to stop them from unraveling.
