Q

Factor affecting

A

Age- muscle strength increase from birth to 20-30 years

Gender- man is more stronger than woman

Type of contraction - more tension during eccentric contraction (muscle lengthen) than isometric contraction (no muscle lengthen)

Fatigue- tired muscle will decrease muscle strength

Q

Principles of mmt

A
  1. Patient and therapist in comfortable position
  2. Fixate proximal to the area being tested
  3. Apply pressure againts muscle action
  4. Apply pressure gradually
  5. Muscle tested 3 times and compare
  6. Isolate muscle
  7. Test uninvolved muscle to get normal strength

Q

Application of mmt

A
  1. Always instruct/ inform patient about procedure and what we want to get after test
  2. Make sure clothing is loose and no restricted movement
  3. Advise patient not to hold their breath
  4. Test uninvolved limb first
  5. Test all muscle to examine in one position before change to another position
  6. Provide stabilization to avoid unnecessary movement
  7. No jerking when apply resistance
  8. Avoid repeat testing in painful joint
