Q

What do close lines mean

A

The electric field is strong as the further you go away the lines aren’t as close so the field is weak

The electric fields interact
The forces act on both particle
The forces move them closer

Q

How are sparks caused by electric fields

A

When there is heigh enough pd between the charged object and the earth
A high pd causes a strong electric field between the charged object and the earthed object
The strong electric field causes electrons in the air particles to be removed (ionisation)
Air is normally an insulated but when ionised is more conducting so current can flow and there is a spark
