What can cause change shape of the skin of chest?
- Lordosis will change the shape of the chest
- Oedema in chest can collect centrally and change the shape
Which parameters to observe during respiratory movements?
- Frequency
- Rhythm

- Depth
Normal frequency of respiratory movements
15-30 breaths per minute
Normal reasons for increased frequency of respiratory movements:
- Excitement
- Work
- Obesity
- High temperature
- Pregnancy
Abnormal reasons for increased frequency of respiratory movements:
- Fever
- Hypoxia
- Hypercapnia
- Pain in the respiratory organs
Abnormal reasons for decreased frequency of respiratory movements:
- CNS problems
- Severe pain
- Shock
- Toxicosis

Regular and even
Normally inspiration is a bit longer than expiration
Reasons for a dog to hold its inspiration:
- Narrowed upper airway
- High abdominal pressure due to pregnancy, ascites etc

- Decreased lung capacity
