Topic 1 - Variation: Variation Flashcards
1
Q
How might someone’s height be affected if they grew up in a place without much food? Would this be environmental or genetic variation?
A
They might not grow as tall as they otherwise could. This would be an example of environmental variation.
2
Q
Name two causes of variation in a species.
A
Genes and environment.
3
Q
Tom grows tomato plants from one seed packet. Why might one plant be much shorter than the others?
A
It could be genetic variation (e.g. A genetic mutation), it could be environmental variation (e.g. It didn’t get enough nutrients) or it could be a mixture of genetic and environmental variation.
