what is the principle of moments?
A
if an object is balance then:
total anticlockwise moments = total clockwise moments

what are the forces on each support if a light rod is being supported on both ends?
A
the upwards force provided by each support wont always be the same

A
if the total anticlockwise moments dont equal the total clockwise moments, there will be a resultant moment
