Tolerance- L9 Flashcards
1
Q
Where does schooling happen for T cells?
A
Thymus for differentiation and schooling of self and nonself
2
Q
Describe the positive selection test
A
T cell expresses TCR (containing A and B), CD4 and CD8. Cortical thymic cells present self antigen on MHC and offer- If T cell recognizes self-MHC it moves on
if it does not recognize self-mhc it dies.
-Can you recognize MHC1 and MHC2
3
Q
What is the double positive T cell
A
Has cd4 and cd8 in low levels
4
Q
What is the purpose of positive selection
A
T cells can recognize peptides and antigens on MHC
5
Q
What is the purpose of negative selection
A
does not recognize its own antigen- does not bind tightly to itself antigen
6
Q
A
