Tissue Repair Flashcards
1
Q
what 2 ways can tissue repair occur?
A
regeneration of injured tissue, or replacement by CT (aka scarring)
2
Q
labile tissues are
A
continuously dividing. Eg: bone marrow, skin, GI epithelium
3
Q
stable tissues are
A
ones that have limited ability to proliferate. Eg: liver, kidney, pancreas
4
Q
permanent tissue Eg:
A
cardiac muscle and neurons
5
Q
the steps of scarring are
A
angiogenesis, fibroblast migration and proliferation, ECM deposition, and remodling
6
Q
why do some wounds heal incorrectly
A
due to infection, diabetes, steroids. Or due to abberant growth
7
Q
give 2 examples of aberrant growth
A
- keloid scars: (an overgrowth of tissue in a scar at the site
caused by a accumulation of collagen - proud flesh: exuberant amounts of granulation tissue
developing during healing of large surface wounds
