Q

Why is it best to start small?

A

It’s best to start small because with our busy lives it’s logical to think that there won’t be enough time to consistently follow through on a new habit.

Thirty minutes of exercise most days? Cooking a healthy dinner every night? Writing daily in a gratitude journal? Forget it. Who has the time?

With the Tiny Habits method, you focus on small actions that you can do in less than 30 seconds. You will quickly wire in the seeds of a new habit, and then it will grow naturally. Starting tiny is how you begin creating a big change without worrying about the time involved.

The less time you have, the more appropriate the method of Tiny Habits is for you. No matter how motivated you are to cultivate a healthy habit, odds are you won’t be able to do it reliably if you start big. When you go big, the new habit probably won’t stick. In many people’s lives, tiny isn’t just the best option, it might be the only option.
