Tilt Table: Physiological Effects

A
  • Stimulate postural reflexes to counteract orthostatic hypotension
  • Facilitate postural drainage
  • Gradual loading of one or both LEs
  • Begin active head/trunk control
  • Provide positioning for stech of hip flexors, knee flexors PFs

A
  • Prolonged bed rest,
  • immobilization,
  • SCI,
  • TBI,
  • orthostatic hypotension,
  • spasticity

Tilt Table: Application

A
  • Supine Abdominal binder, long elastic stockings or tensor bandaging to counteract orthostatic hypotension
  • Secured by straps -
    • Prox to patella,
    • pelvis,
    • chest under axilla
  • Table gradually raised
  • Can be maintained as long as 30-60 mins - initially no longer than 45 mins 1-2x daily
  • Monitor vitals
