A
- Post-immobilization #,
- tendon/ligament repair,
- total knee/hip replacement
- Postimmobilization fracture
- Tendon or ligament repair
- Accelerate rate of interarticular cartilage regeneration, tendon and ligament healing
- Decrease edema and joint effusion
- Minimize contractures
- Decrease post op pain Increase synovial fluid lub Improve circulation
- Prevent adhesions
- Improve nutrition to articular cartilage and periarticular tissues
- Increase joint ROM

CPM: Contraindications
A
Increases in pain,
edema of inflammation following treatment

CPM: Precautions
A
Intracompartmental hematoma from anticoagulants

CPM: Application Knee
A
- ROM set to 1- to 4- minute cycles
- 20-40 deg flexion initially
- Increase 5-10 deg as tolerated
- Goal of 110-120 is acceptable
- Treatment time: 1 hr 3x/day or 24 cont hrs
- Duration of tx: 1- 3 weeks or until therapeutic goals have been met.
