Approaches to the proximal tibia

A

Anterolateral
- 1cm lateral to midline, recline tibialis anterior

Posteromedial

  • over posteromedial border of tibia
  • preserve long saphenous nerve and vein
  • deep dissection between pes anserinus and medial head of gastrocnemius

Arthroscopy assisted :
- first incision over soft spot : anterolateral with knee flexed
