what adjustments must be made to l thyroxine in pregnancy ?
dose must be increased by 50%
what are the drugs taken in pregnancy for symptoms of hyperthyroidism ?
PTU in the first trimester
then continue on methimazole
PTU if continued is hepatoxic to the mother

what is the onset of post partum thyroiditis ?
at least 12 months post partum
what are the histological findings associated with post partum thyroiditis ?
lymphocytic infiltration
may be associated with germinal centres
