What are the symptoms of hypothyroidism

Tiredness cold weight gain thin hair dry skin low mood constipation bradycardia

What are the causes of hypothyroidism
A
primary:
autoimmune (Hashimoto’s), surgery
secondary (pituitary)

What is the most common cause of hypothyroidism
A
Hashimoto’s, usually has a good family history.
Autoimmune; antibodies produced against thyroid

What happens to TSH, T3 and T4 levels as hypothyroidism becomes more severe
A
TSH increases (bringing with it an increased mortality rate) T4 and T3 decrease

A
Grave’s disease (Autoimmune, antibodies released which stimulate TSH receptor)
Thyroiditis
Toxic nodule

What are the symptoms of hyperthyroidism
A
Nervous, anxious sweating palpitations/tachycardia, heat intolerance, fatigue weight loss + increased appetite shortness of breath, weakness leg swelling
