A
unfreeze involves preparing the business change

- creating the urgency by demonstrating a need for change
- challenge current beliefs, obstacles that may resist change
- managers should show that they understand the doubts held by employees and concerns they may have that contribute to employee resistance

what is the step change?
A
when the business is unfrozen, management is able to change policies, processes and culture
- communicate often about the change, listen to feedback, allow employees to seek guidance and dispel rumors
- provide support such as training, counselling to help employees accept the change
- empower employees to be part of decisions and take actions so they are involved as part of the change, resistance is reduced

A
refreezing is reinforcing and anchoring the change into culture, without refreezing there is the potential for the business to gradually move back to old ways of doing things

- celebrate success
