Who was Warbeck
-Claimed to be Richard, Duke of York

-Due to the foreign support he had gained
-Managed to gain support from the heart of Henry’s govt, Sir William Stanley, his step-uncle
-Was able to draw English courtiers into his conspiracies
What happened in 1496?
-A small Scottish force crossed the border on Warbeck’s behalf but retreated
Why did Warbeck fail?
-James gave into Henry’s offer of his marriage to his daughter
-He failed to gather support
-Henry + his agents, Sir Robert Clifford had uncovered Warbeck’s plans before they could take place
