-Named his son arthur after king arthur who was known to be a legendary protector and ensured his son was born in winchester, a place with strong arthurian links.
-Declared the beaufort family as legitimate
-Used symbol of red rose of lancaster balanced with the white rose of york- a symbol of reconciliation between the two opposing sides
-Presented himself as reputable: in the BoB he fought under the red dragon of the welsh kings, he comes from a descent of ancient kings who fought against Saxon invaders.
