Role of the infundibulum?
catch the oocytes with increased surface area

cow = cervical rings, moderately difficult passage
ewe can’t pass pipette through the cervix (lots of cervical rings/extensive)
mare = very loos mucosal folds, easy passage
what two species are these and why
-sow = corkscrew, need spiral-shaped pipette
-bitch very easy passage
Vagina: The vestibule/vestibular gland species differences:
bitch verse cow/sow.
What do the vestibular glands secrete?
urethral tubercle (petrusion)
- most species, the vestibule is well develop = urethral opening is ‘hidden’
- vestibular glands secrete mucus in receptive females (lubrication)
- cow and sow have a suburethral diverticulum
