What are the properties of thermosetting plastics?
A
They have strong cross links holding the chains together
The polymer does not soften when heated, strong hard and rigid

How is LD polythene made?
A
At 200 degrees Celsius and high pressure.
Flexible and used for bags and bottles

How is HD polythene made?
A
Low temperature and pressure and a catalyst, it’s rigid and used for drainpipes and water tanks

What are the properties of Thermosoftening plastics?
A
There are weak intermolecular forces between the chains. The forces can be easily overcome with little heat energy, meaning that they are easily melted and will form a new shape when melted.
