6
Q

What are the objectives of the 3 point scan

A

Life Safety – Are there any victims or other firefighters present in the
space?
2. Fire conditions
a. What is the level of the thermal layer in relation to an object of
identifiable size, such as a door or a piece of furniture?
b. Is there any convection of heat or fire gases present?
c. What is the fire source?
d. Is there a lack of thermal contrast?
e. Structural conditions

  1. What is the building construction (type, presence of trusses, types of
    wall, etc.)?
  2. What is the structural integrity (presence of cracks in the walls,
deteriorated supports, voids or holes, etc.)?

8
Q

How can TICS show temperature differences?

A

Thermal imaging
cameras only show temperature differences between objects and not an
optical image of the objects. The greater the temperature difference, the more
distinct the thermal image.

9
Q

The heat from some high-temperature objects or sources of high heat may
be blocked, obscured, or made less distinct in the thermal image display
by any of the following

A

Water mist, spray, or highly saturated fog
1. Some chemical substances in a concentrated cloud or vapor
2. Extremely dense smoke
3. Heated smoke or a layer of heated gases

Q

When is overhaul most effective?

A

if imaging is conducted prior to removing material.
Items such as heat registers may appear as hot

16
Q

When will the best images occur?

A

Best images will
likely occur when looking at the area from above, such as on a hill, a bridge, or an
aerial.

17
Q

How should the TIC be cleaned?

A

The thermal imager should be cleaned using warm soapy water and
nonabrasive cleaners. Allow the thermal imager to completely dry
before replacing in its carrying case. Note: Do not use solvents and
abrasive cleaners.

18
Q

What is recommended that the display is treated with?

A

anti-fog solutions as
used on SCBA facemasks.

19
Q

What temp should the TIC and batteries be stored at?

A

58oF -95oF, moderate humidity) at all times

20
Q

Penalty for pointing laser at aircraft

A

On February 14, 2012, the President signed Public Law 112-95, the FAA
Modernization and Reform Act of 2012. Section 311 amended Title 18 of
the United States Code (18 U.S.C.), Chapter 2, § 39, by adding § 39A,
which makes it a Federal crime to aim a laser pointer at an aircraft. The
crime is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and five years
imprisonment.
