Pleasant activity scheduling
What is a dysfunctional thought diary
Is it where the client writes down a record of events leading up to any unpleasant emotional experience / writes down negative thoughts
How does a dysfunctional thought diary work
The clients writes down the negative thought and how much they believe it
They then have to write a rational response back to the statement and rate how much they believe it
They re rate their first statement with the idea that it is lower once it has been rationalised
What is challenging dysfunctional thoughts
The client and therapist work together to change their thinking patterns. They are taught to ask where is the evidence of X and what is the worst that could happen if X were true. By challenging these thoughts and replacing them they are trying out new ways of behaving
What is pleasant activity scheduling
Pleasant activity scheduling in planing an event the client can engage in every day that brings them joy to bring them a sense of achievement or induce more positive emotions. The client keeps a record of the activités and how they felt changing if needed.
