Assertive Communication
“I” statements
style of communication that focuses on beliefs and feelings of the speaker, not the thoughts and characteristics of the person they are speaking to.
Ex) Kid: “I feel frustrated or annoyed when I am reminded again and again to do my homework. I’m old enough to know how to complete my homework without reminders”
