This sociological concept was coined by George Herbert Mead. It is the common behavioral expectations of the general society.
Generalized Others
Conscience is the mastery and comprehension of what constitute as rights and wrongs. People from early age are subjected to moral edification. They learn about the meaning of sanctionable and violable conducts. Morality is a lesson taught by the significant others ( parents , guardians , schools and religious institution ). The conditioned person then become integrated in the society .
Moral development
A person’s distinct sense of identity as developed through social interaction and subjective experiences.
Self
Our self development is influence d by our Genetics ( Nature ) . The Social environment plays a critical role in our self development.( Nuture ). This is why socialization matter. Do research
Socialization
Parents , School , Religious institution and Labor forces play the critical process of socialization of the members in the society.
Agents of Socialization
A group consisting of those with similitude in age , interest , and social status .
Peer Group
Our various ways in preparing for the future life roles.
Anticipatory Socialization
The process by which new members of a total institution lose aspect of their old identities . They are assigned new roles as they joined the social institution.
Degradation Ceremony
The Supplantation of old behavior with newly adopted and learned behavior .
