Q

I. What is the meaning of the Trinity?

A
  1. God the Father
  2. God the Son
  3. God the Holy Spirit
  4. Three persons, One and the Same God.
  5. It’s not meant to be something we can fully understand. Thus, the purpose of faith.
  6. They are always in community with one another, never in conflict with one another.
  7. Matthew 3:16-17: And when Jesus was baptized, immediately He went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on Him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
  8. To me, this is the clearest depiction of the trinity in scripture. Father, Son, and Spirit all in one place.
  9. Spirit is clearly represented by the Dove.
  10. Jesus is confirmed by God as Son
  11. By calling Jesus His Son, God confirms Himself as Father.

III. What is the definition of an attribute? Name some of the attributes of God, and give a Scriptural incident that reveals these attributes.

A
  1. Attribute: A quality/feature regarded as a characteristic/inherent part of someone.
  2. Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Loving, Compassionate
  3. Isaiah 40:28-29: Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might He increases strength.
  4. To be everlasting, He must be alive, He must be outside time
  5. To be able to create the heavens and earth, He must be a Creator
  6. To not faint, to not grow weary, to have power and strength to those who lack, He must be all-powerful.
  7. For His understanding to be unsearchable, He must be all-knowing.
  8. To be willing to give power and strength to the faint and weary, He must be loving and compassionate.
