  • He believed workers have needs they need to fulfil at work
  • Therefore managers should treat their as individuals with different needs and aspirations
  • These were made into a hierarchy as he believed the needs at the bottom need to be satisfied first in order to fulfil the top

The hierarchy of needs

A

1) psychological needs- through pay and warm and dry environment
2) safety- apply proper health and safety policy and provide employees with contact of employment
3) Love and belonging- opportunity to work in groups and social and sporting facilities
4) Esteem- delegating responsibilities to workers below you and offering opportunities for promotion
5) Self actualisation- providing opportunities to take on responsibilities and develop new skills
