What is His Name?
His Name is Jehovah.
Ps 83:18 – “That men may know that Thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.”
Who is God?
God is an infinite, holy and intelligent spirit, and the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth.
Where does he dwell?
Everywhere.
How does he account for this?
Dwelling everywhere
His Omnipresence.
Why do you believe in the existence of God?
Nature declares it, and the Scriptures teach it.
Psalm 19:1 –”the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.”
Is God Almighty?
Yes.
Why do you say he is Almighty?
He has creative power.
Is the living God a supreme God?
Yes.
Why do you call him a living God?
In him dwells life.
John 5:26 “for as the father has life in himself; so has he given to the son to have life in himself.”
Of what is God worthy?
God is worthy of all possible honor, praise, confidence and love.
Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
Is there a God-head?
Yes.
How many persons constitute the God-head?
3.
What are their names?
God the Father; God the Son; God the Holy Spirit.
Are these three persons equal?
Yes, in every divine perfection.
How do they act in the plan of Redemption?
Harmoniously.
What part of the work does the Father perform?
The Father draws.
John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day. “
What part does the Son perform?
The Son sets free.
John 8:36 “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”
What is the Holy Spirit’s work?
The Holy Spirit seals.
Eph 4:30 “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
How do you know that each of these persons is equal in every divine perfection?
Each possesses the same attributes.
How many attributes does God possess?
15 or more natural, and 5 or more moral.
What is meant by Self-Existence?
His existence of himself
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
What is meant by his Eternity?
From all eternity.
Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hast formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”
What is meant by his Mercy?
Disposition to pity his suffering children.
What is meant by his Goodness?
Disposition to impart happiness to all his creatures.
What is meant by His Holiness?
His perfection.
