The Theory Of Evolution By Natural Selection Flashcards
What is evolution
The process of genetic changes in a population overtime.
How → through the process of natural selection.
①
Organisms produce more organisms than can survive with limited resources required for a survival.
②
Limited resources for survival and reproduction causes competition between individuals in a population.
③
There is genetic variation within a population which can be inherited by offspring. Traits that are well suited for the environment will be more successful at surviving and will produce more offspring.
④
The adaptions are inherited by the offspring and are present in greater frequency in the population over time, the process is linked to the non-Darwin term, “ survival of the fittest”.( fittest “best”/ able to survive and reproduce in the given condition)
