what happened to the 3E representatives
the representatives of the third estate waited for two hours in the rain to enter the chamber for the official opening in the Palace of Versailles
where were the upper estate members
however the first second estate and king got to go inside. During this time, the third estate representatives started suspecting that things were not going to change
what did the king make a speech about
the king made a speech and said that traditions would be respected, which raised alarm bells for the third estate
what did the king want
the king wanted reforms, but the estates would meet separately and get only one vote
what did the 3E reps do
the third estate was outraged as they thought nothing was going to change and that they should get more votes as they had a bigger population. They rejected ideas for six weeks
what happened on June 20th
on the 20th of June 1789, these certain state representatives met again but found that the kings soldiers had locked their meeting room. So they went to an indoor tennis court nearby
what did these people call themselves
these people called themselves the National Assembly and is the first example of a modern government
what did the 3E reps believe
the third state representatives had the right to meet but thought the king was stopping them
what did the NA vow
they vowed not to separate and to reassemble whenever circumstances require until a constitution is established. They wanted the power of the king to be defined and limited. They demanded the third estate to have rights just like the first and 2nd estate
