A
The Bastille is a fortress in the heart of Paris, and is a prison and a symbol of power
defending the National Assembly, a Parisian mob of workers attacked a series of buildings including the Bastille. They felt that the National Assembly were going to be crushed by the king and his troops

A
July 14th, 1789, after taking muskets from a nearby military base, the mob attacked the Bastille in order to get gunpowder

there were about 1000 attackers of whom 10 were killed by defenders in the fortress
