Marie Antoinette was forced to marry King Louis the 16th when she was only 14. She was forced into a foreign country and if she didn’t produce a male heir, the alliance between Austria and France would fail
what happened to marie antionette
When she arrived in France, she was hated due to the fact that she was Austrian. She wasn’t called the queen. When she was told the people of Paris were starving and had no bread ot eat, she said “let them eat cake”. Except she never said it.
what was louis downfall
Louis the XVI wanted to be everybody’s mate, he was into antique clocks and was nerdy. Louis the XVI didn’t want to be with Marie. But he was running out of money, so he decided to tax the third estate even more. Unlike his grandfather, who was very scary
what did louis do when he heard the bread prices were down
He decided to tax bread aka the thing that they really need
were the french in debt
yes! The French were fighting in the American Revolution (Hamilton), and are still in debt from that
what did La Fayette think about this
La Fayette decided that it was bad to tax people without their vote (“No taxation without representation” USA)
