verb
to move quickly and suddenly towards a particular place:
=I sprang out of bed to answer the door.
=The organization is ready to spring into action (= start taking action) the moment it receives its funding.
=He always springs to his feet when she walks in the room.
=figurative I noticed the way you sprang to his defence when Caroline started joking about his clothes.
=The lid of the box sprang shut.
speed; He ran back to his car and sped off.
race; She raced over and hugged me.
fly; She flew across the room just in time to stop the baby falling off the chair.
belt; UK Traffic was belting along the motorway.
tear; A fire truck came tearing down the road.
streak; Bullets streaked across the sky.

adverb
really or certainly, often used to emphasize something:
=Indeed, it could be the worst environmental disaster in Europe this century.
=Evidence suggests that errors may indeed be occurring.

invent
verb
to design and/or create something that has never been made before:
=The first safety razor was invented by company founder King C. Gillette in 1903.
make; Can I make you a cup of coffee?
produce; California produces a lot of grapes.
create; Leonardo da Vinci created the masterpiece we know as “Mona Lisa”.
invent; Alexander Graham Bell is credited with inventing the telephone.
develop; They are working to develop the next generation of underwater vehicles.
manufacture; The car is manufactured in Germany.
roast
verb
to cook food in an oven or over a fire:
=I roasted the vegetables with some olive oil.
=Have these red peppers been roasted?
=Roast the lamb in a hot oven for 45 minutes.
=I roasted a few nuts.
=We roasted chestnuts on the open fire.
pureed tomatoes
Tomatoes that have been cooked for a short amount of time and then strained, producing a thick sauce which is used to add flavor, color and body to a sauce.
