The social learning theory Flashcards
What is observation?
Watching and paying close attention to other people’s behaviour. Example : A person may observe a criminal and steal from a bank.
What is Imitation?
After observing a criminal steal the money from a bank , the person now steals more money from the bank.
What is a Role model?
-Someone we look up to and identify with
.Example ?The criminal acts as a role model to the person , as the person looks ,up to this person and wants to be ‘ cool ‘ like them.
What is identification?
When an observe associates’ themselves with the model and wants to be like the role model and example of this a person can see himself in the criminal , as they are both males in thier mid 30s who come from working class backgroup’s.
What is Modelling?
When the role model performs the precise demonstration of a specific behaviour for example a criminal model’s the criminal behaviour to the person .They meticulously plan now to steal the money and execute the perfectly without anyone seeing.
What is Vicarious reinforcement?
Reinforcement which is not directly experienced but occurs through observing someone else being reinforced for a behaviour . For example a person sees the criminal being rewarded with gaining money for committing the crime , making the person want to steal money to get the same reward.
What does social learning approach sit on the nature vs nurture debate?
It supports the nurture and completly ignores nature which is a weakness
