What is self-actualisation?
The desire to grow psychologically and fulfil one’s full potential.
What is congruence?
When there is consistency between the actual self and the ideal self.
What is incongruence?
When there is inconsistency between the actual self and ideal self.
What is conditional positive regard?
It refers to the parents valuing an individual only when they meet specific criteria.
What is conditions of worth?
The criteria that the children have to meet to receive this positive regard.
What is objective?
Information based on facts that is free from bias.
What is subjective?
Information based on personal opinion that is subject to bias.
What is free will?
The idea that we chose our behaviour and are in control of our destiny.
What is culture bias?
The interpretation of behaviour based on the standards of one’s own culture ,usually devaluing other culture.
What is Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs in order.

-Safety shelter(home to go to)

What is the Actual self?
The person they perceive themselves as.
What is the real world application for the humanistic approach?
1 Aim to achieve congruence in the client.
2Therapist provides unconditional positivity.
3 Reduce the gap between the self and ideal self.
4 The person will have overcome incongruence.
What is the ideal self?
The person they would like to be.

What is a strength of the humanistic approach?
