Ecumenical is the idea of creating Christian unity, as it seeks to reconcile Christians from different denominations. It recognises differences between denominations but aims to bring Christians together in shared worship and service

The aim is that Christians will have an increased understanding of each other
Meaning of the word ‘Church’
The Church is a reference to Christians, a ‘call out to people’
Main purpose of World Council of Churches
It has a worldwide vision and focuses on 3 areas:
To seek visible unity
Promote common witness in work for mission and evangelism
Engage in Christian service by meeting human needs, breaking down barriers between people
Also reconciliation through ecumenism
