Dorothea Dix
Nurse in the Civil War who established the Nurse Corp. Built hospitals to assist the mentally ill
Clara Barton
Founded the Red Cross. Nurse in the Civil War
Nursing Theory
Differentiates nursing from other disciplines. Helps describe and predict and control proper outcomes of nursing based care
Peplav
Believed that interpersonal relationships between the nurse, the patient, and the patient’s family was crucial to wellness
Henderson
Believed that nurses were responsible for assisting the individual in activities that helped them become individuals.
Rogers
Believed that there is an emphasis on the science and art of nursing that environment, spirituality, and mentality all have energy fields that affect wellness. Believed in mobilizing inner resources.
Orem
Believed that it was a nurses job to help patients reach a point where they were able to take care of themselves.
King
Nurse is responsible for navigating the individual, group, and societal spheres.
Neuman + Roy
