1/3 people have staph, but they are symptom free
1960 a straw of staph emerged that was resistant to antibiotic methicillin
Vacomycilin was used to treat MRSA
Now, only immunocomprimised people are at risk
VRE
vancomycin-resistant Enterococci
VRE Features
Spread through Feces, urine, or blood
VISA
Vancomycin-intermediate staphylococcus aureus
CRE
Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacterales
carbapenem
antibiotic that is very strong and is a “last resort”.
