Define Primary Socialisation
Learning process that occurs in the family when parents teach their children the language, values, norms and ethics of the culture they live in. They can then grow into citizens and workers who do what the society expects of them
Define Conscience
The moral sense of right and wrong that is introduced to children at a young age during socialisation process. Deters deviant behaviour by setting off guilt feelings if the child wants to do wrong
Define Imitation
Where children copy the actions of their older role models (specifically parents)
Define Role Models
Significant others who are respected by those with a lower status and whose behaviour sets an example to be imitated
Define Gender Roles
Social expectations that underpin what is expected of a male and a female in the society they are in
Define Feral Children
Children who are interaction derived from other people, as they are abandoned into the wild (in some cases raised by animals) or they are kept in isolation
Define Secondary Socialisation
Process of social learning that is an addition to that occurring in the family. These agents include, educational system, religion, workplace and media
Define Hidden Curriculum
These are unwritten, unofficial and often unintended lessons, values and attitudes that encourage conformity that children learn at school / classrooms
Define Peer Group
Group of people who are about the same age, have the same status and interests

Collective loss of memory
