- The present tense of -ir verbs
The second group of verbs ends in -ir. These verbs have two different
conjugation patterns: The first type of -ir verbs removes the -ir ending
of the verb, keeps the root, and adds the endings shawn below. Note
the insertion of an -iss- in the plural forms of the present tense.
FINIR TO FINISH
je finis I finish
tu finis you finish
il/elle/on finit he/she/one finishes
nous finissons we finish
vous finissez you finish
ils/elles finissent they finish
À quelle heure finit le match?
At what time does the game end?

Other verbs following this pattern are: choisir (to choose), and réussir
(to succeed).

consonant of the root and adds the endings shawn below.
PARTIR TO LEAVE
je pars I leave
tu pars You leave
il/elle/on part He/she/one leaves
nous partons We leave
vous partez you leave
ils/elles partent they leave
