what is constancy ?
is a property characterizing two or more statements . If you hold tow or more inconsistent beliefs that at root, this means you face a logically insurmountable problem with their truth .
how can a simple sentence be contradictory ?
when it makes an assertion that is necessarily false often by conjoining tow inconsistent sentences .
how are two or more statements consistent ?
when its possible for them all two be true in the same sense and at the same time.
what is dialectical thinking ?
philosophical dialogue , a back and forth process between two or more points of view .
what is eristics ?
is concerned with winning arguments , dialects aims at gaining a deeper understanding of ones self and the world .
what does apologetics do ?
tries to defend something already determine to be truth , but dialects is about discovering or disclosing truth not yet to be shown.
how is the process of dialect formed ?
- one party advances a claim
- other party advances some contrary claim
- the first party attempts to defend to refund or to modify the original claim in light of the challenges brought by the other .
- the other party responds to the first party’s defense, refinement or modification with Newley refined criticisms or counter claims.
- a more accurate understanding o the issue at hand emerges .
