What is the nervous system made up of?
The brain, the spinal chord and nerves
What is the CNS made up of?
The brain and the spinal chord
What does the CNS do?
Communicates between the brain and the body
What are the 3 parts of the brain?
Cerebrum
Cerebellum
Medulla
What does the cerebrum control?
Memory, intelligence, sides of the body
What does the cerebellum control?
Balance and coordination
What does the medulla control?
It controls breathing and heart rate
Where are your light receptors?
In your eyes
Where are your sound and position receptors?
Ears
Where are your chemical receptors?
In the nose and tongue
Where are touch, pressure and pain receptors?
The skin
What do sensory neurones do?
They take information from the sense organs to the CNS
What do motor neurones do?
They take information from the CNS to a muscle of gland
What does a relay neurone do?
It is found in the CNS and connects the sensory and motor neurones
