take pictures of parts of the brain that are active when doing particular tasks. The prefrontal cortex is active when doing tasks in STM and hippocampus in LTM

gave participants list of 20 words, presented one at a time and askd them to recall.
what did glanser and cunitz find out?
participants remembered words from the beginning (PRIMARY EFFECT) because the words were repeated so went into LTM. And remembered words from the end as they were in STM (recency effect)
