Causes of the French Revolution (3)
- debt from Seven years war, American Revolution, and King Louis XIV
- poor harvests- hunger and inflation
- 1st and 2nd estates failure to reform- no taxes

After King Louis XVI locked them out of the Estates general, the 3rd estate met in the indoor tennis court and swore they wouldn’t leave until they created a just constitution for France.

-people saw it as a blow to tyranny and a step towards freedom

- Goals- Establish a balance of power and restore the monarchs
- Problems- redrew boundaries in Europe and nationalism would eventually be a cause of WWI
- peace in Europe would last 100 years
