the system of land ownership where rulers divided their land amongst their followers in return for taxes and loyalty

explain the feudal system
A
the king gave land called a fief to the nobles. In return the nobles swore an oath of fealty promising to fight for him, provide him with troops and pay taxes.
the nobles gave some land to soldiers and in return the knights fought for the nobles and the king
the peasants (serfs and freemen)then worked the land for the nobles and knights who in return offered them protection
