that we use the internal working model we form from early attachments with our caregivers to shape our expectations and beliefs about future relationships. we imitate our relationships with our parents in our future relationships with friends, romantic parents and our ow children

the attachment style a child has with their parent shapes the way they behave and interact with people in untrue relationships

lead to expectations of not being able to depend on partners and to not receive love / affection from them
